Leanne is coming into her own…
When season 4 of Servant begins, Leanne seems to be falling apart, but she’s also really coming into her own and gaining strength. She’s realizing just how powerful she is and everything feels dangerous somehow.
We begin four months after the crazy events of the season 3 finale. And we already know this will be the final chapter of the Turner story, which sounds creepy enough in itself. Also, it’s said that the series will come to an “epic and emotional conclusion”.
And then there’s Leanne’s war with the Church of Lesser Saints which is reaching dangerous heights. People are all around the Turner home and trying to physically get their hands on Leanne. They move around like predators up and down Spruce Street, where Leanne’s powers quickly have an effect on more homes than just the Turner residence.
Who is Leanne Grayson?
Obviously, there is still also the constantly lurking threat that Dorothy is realizing the truth. Whether that comes with a complete meltdown or a healthy way of coming to terms with what happened with Jericho, we’ll have to wait and see.
Within the first three episodes, there is one particularly harrowing scene where it all seems right at the cusp of exploding in everyone’s faces.
And then the series promises to finally answer the two biggest questions: Who is Leanne Grayson? And who is the child in their home?
Before the Servant series even began on Apple TV+, Jericho had already passed away and Dorothy could not accept this. Somehow the “realistic newborn doll” that Dorothy saw as Jericho did come to life when Leanne Grayson came along. Now they have a living boy again instead of a doll (yes, like Pinocchio), but who is he?
As in the past three seasons, the core cast still consists of Lauren Ambrose as Dorothy, Toby Kebbell as her husband Sean, and Rupert Grint as her brother Julian Pearce. And, of course, Nell Tiger Free plays Leanne Grayson. All four are as brilliant as ever in this final season of Servant.
Fortunately, we already know we’ll be seeing Lauren Ambrose again soon. She’ll be playing the adult version of “Van” in season 2 of Yellowjackets.
Watch season 4 of Servant on Apple TV+
Despite always being labeled an M. Night Shyamalan series, this was created by Tony Basgallop. Shyamalan is a producer of the series and has directed episodes across the seasons. He has never been a writer on it though. His daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan has both written and directed several episodes, so it is quite a family affair in that sense.
And let me be clear, Ishana has done brilliant work on Servant, so this is not a “nepo baby“-situation. Not by any means.
The directors on this final season of Servant are M. Night Shyamalan, Ishana Night Shyamalan, Carlo Mirabella-Davis, Dylan Holmes Williams, Celine Held and Logan George, Kitty Green, Nimrod Antal, and Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala.
The writers on season 4 are Ishana Night Shyamalan, Alyssa Clark, Laura Marks, Devin Conroy, Henry Chaisson, Amy Louise Johnson, and Kara Lee Corthon. This story has been crazy and surprising all the way through. Still, this fourth and final season seems to be going all out to make sure the series finale packs one hell of a punch.
SERVANT Season 4 will premiere with the first episode on Apple TV+ on January 13, 2023. The remaining nine episodes will be released weekly.
