Ghostbusters: Afterlife is filled with cameos by both the original Ghostbusters as well as new star power. Or rather, not as much cameos as brief appearances in the 2021 Ghostbusters movie. Read all about who stars in Ghostbusters: Afterlife – both credited and uncredited.

Who plays Ivo Shandor in Ghostbusters: Afterlife?

J. K. Simmons plays Ivo Shandor: The leader of the Cult of Gozer.

The character was first mentioned in Ghostbusters (1984) and because Gozer has always been a problem in the world of Ghostbusters, Ivo Shandor is to blame for quite a lot.

However, it’s a “blink and you’ll miss it” appearance by J.K. Simmons in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. In fact, you’ll probably recognize his voice much more than his face.

Especially since he’s made to look like the image of Ivo Shandor first shown in the 1984 movie (see image below).

Another fun cameo is Josh Gad (Little Monsters) as Muncher and Ira Heiden (A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warrior) as the Mini-Pufts.

Who plays Gozer the Gozerian in Ghostbusters: Afterlife?

Olivia Wilde plays Gozer the Gozerian in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Gozer first appeared in Ghostbusters (1984) where she was played by Slavitza Jovan.

Unlike J.K. Simmons as Ivo Shandor, it is quite easy to recognize Olivia Wilde as Gozer.

Especially once you know that she’s the one playing Gozer. However, do not expect to recognize her voice. After all, Gozer speaks with a very peculiar voice. The sharp features and attitude is all Oliva Wilde though.

Is Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters: Afterlife?

Yes, Sigourney Weaver does take part of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. But only just so she is one of the most clear-cut Ghostbusters: Afterlife cameos.

Sigourney Weaver & Bill Murray have a wonderful Ghostbusters: Afterlife end-credit scene. In other words, exactly like Sigourney Weaver also took part in the 2016 Ghostbusters movie in an end-credit scene.

Are the original Ghostbusters in Ghostbusters: Afterlife?

Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson are all starring in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. In various ways, obviously, since Harold Ramis died in 2014. His appearance is created via some visual effects magic and ultimately used to create a touching tribute along with a “For Harold” dedication. I found it impossible not to get a little teary-eyed during that particular scene.

We also mention this moment briefly in our Ghostbusters: Afterlife review, which you can read here >

Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson are all starring in Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson all appear in one key scene together and have scenes separate from one another. All three also had cameos in the 2016 movie, but their Ghostbusters: Afterlife cameos are of a more classic variety.

Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson each also take part in an end-credit scene, so make sure you stick around for those. There are two end-credit scenes in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. One mid-credit and the other at the very end of the credits.

I usually keep up-to-date with all the horror news, and make sure Heaven of Horror share the best and latest trailers for upcoming horror movies. I love all kinds of horror. My love affair started when I watched 'Poltergeist' alone around the age of 10. I slept like a baby that night and I haven't stopped watching horror movies since. The crazy slasher stuff isn't really for me, but hey, to each their own. I guess I just like to be scared and get jump scares, more than being disgusted and laughing at the grotesque. Also, Korean and Spanish horror movies made within the past 10-15 years are among my absolute favorites.
