You Season 2 is out on Netflix now which is bound to make a lot of people very happy. Strangely enough, many women fell in love with Joe, which actor Penn Badgley did wonder a lot about. After all, Joe Goldberg was a stalker and a murderer.

If you liked season 1 then you should love this second season as well. Joe is still crazy and he’s being haunted by his former victims (or “loves” as he would call them). Both those who are dead and the ones who are still among us.

You Season 2 goes to L.A.

Yes, season 2 of You is more of the same…. but now Joe is in Los Angeles. After all, the best place to hide out and stay low is in the city he loathes. Especially when it’s a city everybody knows he would rather die than be in. Of course, desperate times call for desperate actions. And Joe is most certainly desperate after his actions in season 1.

Also, Joe now goes by the name Will. He’s trying to start over so obviously he can’t be Joe Goldberg. Still, Joe cannot actually change his nature so he falls in love with someone very quickly and he’s back to his old ways.

By the end of episode 1, you will know exactly how little Joe has changed. However, I must say that I did not completely buy into the “twist” at the end of the first episode in season 2 of You. It isn’t bad but it didn’t quite work either. However, the twist during episode 2 was pretty damn perfect!

You Season 2 Netflix Review

Victoria Pedretti is Love

Joe’s new love in season 2 of You is literally named “Love”. Her full name is Love Quinn and she is played perfectly by Victoria Pedretti. Most horror fans will probably know Victoria Pedretti as Nell from The Haunting of Hill House and seeing her in a new Netflix series is perfect. She is spot-on in every single way as Love.

While it’s fun to see Victoria Pedretti in this completely new character, we can also look forward to watching her in the follow-up season of The Haunting of Hill House. It’s a separate story but still with Mike Flanagan at the helm. It’s called The Haunting of Bly Manor and will be out on Netflix in 2020.

Of course, we also have to see more of Candace. She confronted Joe in the final episode of You season 1 and from the very beginning of season 2, she makes it clear that she wants to punish Joe. After all, he did leave her for dead before the storyline in season 1 of You even begun. Candace is played wonderfully by Ambyr Childers so that’s another thing to look forward to.

Finally, we do also get to see more of Joe’s childhood which might explain why he has turned out this way.

Watch You Season 2 on Netflix now!

I absolutely loved season 1 of You so I was really looking forward to this new season. Fortunately, it picks up with the same tone and style. In other words, I was not disappointed.

Especially since Penn Badgley is just perfect as Joe in this new “Will” version that lives in L.A. Also, I was happy to see the wonderful Victoria Pedretti, who we all fell in love with as Nell in The Haunting of Hill House. The character she plays in You is very different from Nell, but she is still all kinds of awesome.

Finally, the moments where we got to see Elizabeth Lail as Beck was perfect. I truly adored that character and obviously, Joe (Penn Badgley) can never let go of a former love. As we learned in season 1 of You when Candace was still haunting him. Well, until she showed up in the final episode to announce that now she would be actually torturing him.

Season 2 of You has everything we loved in season 1 with the added bonus of being set in a new city with more people for Joe to comment on. It’s a true treat to have this show back. Now we’re just waiting for season 3 of You to be announced!

You Season 2 is out on Netflix globally from December 26, 2019.

Plot

Season 2 of YOU will follow Joe Goldberg as his search for love takes him to Hollywood where dreams can be made or shattered.

I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
