The compelling case for Arthur Leigh Allen as the Zodiac
The true identity of the Zodiac Killer is one of the biggest mysteries of serial killer history. Right alongside Jack the Ripper. Now, we may finally have the answer to the question that has tormented so many for five decades.
A family has come forward to tell their story, and it is damn difficult to say it doesn’t abide by the “beyond reasonable doubt”-element. It’s the most convincing and compelling case for Arthur Leigh Allen as the Zodiac killer.
Three children from the Seawater family are able to share evidence and present their experiences. Everything fits far too well to ignore or dismiss as coincidental.
We’re not talking about some minor details presented here. Instead places, dates, a fondness for writing in code, and even songs that the Zodiac referenced are all part of their shared history with Arthur Leigh Allen.

Could the only named suspect be the right one?!
Of course, Arthur Leigh Allen is also the only suspect ever named by the detectives who were working on the case. Still, even they haven’t seen or heard all that the Seawater kids, now adults, share in This is the Zodiac Speaking.
Arthur Leigh Allen was an elementary school teacher and convicted as a sex offender. Not a good hybrid and hearing from some of his students, they both adored him and noticed strange things about him. Moreso in hindsight as you don’t notice the same things as a child.
For more than fifty years, the Zodiac Killer has inspired theories and been the obsession of many. The serial killer was linked to multiple murders across Northern California in the late 1960s and has been the subject of books, movies, and TV shows.
Especially because he got away with it!
The Netflix three-part true crime docuseries This Is the Zodiac Speaking offers a perspective and evidence that cannot be ignored.

Phil Lott and Ari Mark are both directors and executive producers on the episodes of this Netflix true crime series. The two previously worked on the documentaries Jailbreak: Love on the Run and The Invisible Pilot in various capacities.
This Netflix true crime documentary is one of the better true crime productions due to featuring so many key witnesses. People who experienced and survived the age of the Zodiac Killer.
This Is the Zodiac Speaking essentially revisits the case with a fresh perspective thanks to the Seawater family. While interviewed separately, all three kids speak about the integral role Arthur Leigh Allen played in their youth.
He cared for them and took them on trips. Of course, these trips are now something they can connect to murders attributed to the Zodiac killer. Their testimony of childhood experiences is paired with archival footage to help us all connect the dots. And they are easy to connect.
Also, there are interviews with the investigative reporter Robert Graysmith, who wrote the 1986 book “Zodiac”, even a local TV reporter who interviewed Arthur Leigh Allen before his death in the early 1990s, and former students of the man named as the Zodiac killer here.
If you’ve watched David Fincher’s 2007 movie Zodiac or any documentary about the serial killer, then this is an absolute must-watch. There is so much to take in from the very first episode and you’ll surely want to binge-watch all three episodes in one sitting. I know I did!
This is the Zodiac Speaking on Netflix is out globally on October 23, 2024.
