Thanks to the new The Shallows trailer it looks like the beach season is ruined for me before it has begun!

The Shallows posterI love the water and I love swimming, but I may have a slight phobia when it comes to sharks. To the point where I can feel myself being followed by a shark in a pool! But enough about me and my hang-up with sharks, which I’d like to thank Steven Spielberg and Jaws for (I also hear the Jaws theme in my head, when I feel like sharks are behind me in a pool).
Anyway, there’s no pool in The Shallows, which will (of course!) be in theaters in June. Just in time to keep everyone out of the water during their summer holidays!

In The Shallows we’ll see what happens when Mia, Blake Lively (The Town, Green Lantern), gets caught in shark filled waters with a nasty cut.

Okay, here’s the official plot for The Shallows:

A young woman is stranded alone on a buoy with a great white shark circling the waters between her and the shore.

The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who also brought us the creepy Orphan back in 2009, and the writing is by Anthony Jaswinski (Kristy)

The Shallows will be out in US theaters on June 24, 2016

I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
