80’s throwback in Attack of the Killer Donuts

Attack of the Killer Donuts is an awesome throwback to retro 80’s films in the horror comedy subgenre.  It even has C. Thomas Howell (The Hitcher, 1986) in a key role!

Reminiscent of both The Blob and (of course!) The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. If you loved either of these, you should love Attack of the Killer Donuts.

The movie was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Scott Wheeler, who also served as the special effects supervisor.

Scott Wheeler is currently working on a film called Planet Shark. That particular film covers very familiar territory for Wheeler; He did all the VFX & B-roll for the Sharknado film series.

I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
