UNTITLED HOME INVASION ROMANCE is a new dark comedy-thriller with multiple violent deaths. It’s surprisingly entertaining and offers more than one twist along the way. Directed by and starring Jason Biggs, who plays a role typical for him, but it works precisely because he leans into all the tropes. Read our full Untitled Home Invasion Romance movie review here!
UNTITLED HOME INVASION ROMANCE is billed as a comedy or an action-comedy, which I suppose is better, but it’s much more of a comedy-thriller. A very dark comedy-thriller that will have you see several people die in violent ways. It’s the kind of story where the premise is a little silly, but then everything goes sideways, and the result is surprisingly entertaining.
Jason Biggs plays the same type of character he has since American Pie or Orange is the New Black, but he leans into it. His character has his heart in the right place, but he isn’t paying attention to the people around him. Not when he has a plan that he finds brilliant. While Jason Biggs is good in this, Meaghan Rath quickly steals the show… which is very much intended.

A little too creative a plan for romance
With Untitled Home Invasion Romance, we follow Kevin (Jason Biggs) as he tries to reignite the suffering romance with his wife, Suzie (Meaghan Rath). The two met, fell in love, and got married without really getting to know each other. Now, a year after they got married, they’re already separated.
Or, well, Suzie calls it a separation while Kevin believes they’re just “on a break”.
Whatever the case, Kevin has finally realized he needs to do something if he wants to get back to simply being married. Being an actor, Kevin has decided to do something very creative, but also wildly misguided. In an effort to become Suzie’s hero, he has gotten an actor colleague to play the part of a home invasion robber so Kevin can save Suzie.
The idea being that she will fall in love with Kevin all over again.
It’s a terrible plan for any number of reasons. Mostly, it’s a bad plan because Kevin isn’t good at following through, and Suzie is more than capable of defending herself. As a result, Kevin will soon find himself caught up in a murder investigation where he knows much more than he’s ready to admit.
A small but great cast
Jason Biggs and Meaghan Ratz (Being Human, Accused) work really well as Kevin and Suzie precisely because they are meant to be so different. Kevin is an idiot in many ways, but he does mean well. Suzie is smart and strong in ways Kevin never anticipated, but he’s about to find out. At the same time, it’s easy to see why she fell for him; He makes her laugh and relax, which is clearly something she needs to take off the pressure of life.
In supporting roles, we see several familiar faces as well. The comedy part of this movie means many of the characters are stereotypical and quirky, but it works in this movie because it doesn’t take itself too seriously. You have to be on board with this, or you’ll just get annoyed. Much like the killer in a slasher can walk, while the victims run, and they still move equally fast. That’s just how it is!
The supporting cast includes Anna Konkle (Murderbot), Justin H. Min (The Umbrella Academy, Beef), Arturo Castro (The Menu), Chris Young (The Strain), René Escobar Jr. (Dear David), and Dylan Cook (Letterkenny).

Jason Biggs is both the star and director of Untitled Home Invasion Romance, and I think he does a solid job on both accounts. It’s his directorial debut, and I hope he will continue. This movie is well-paced, it’s funny, brutally violent, and remains very character-driven throughout. I can’t ask for much more from a comedy-thriller with action and a mystery that results in everything escalating in crazy ways.
The screenplay comes from Jamie Napoli and Joshua Paul Johnson, and I have to say that I feel this movie deserved a theatrical release. Don’t get me wrong, it works really well to watch at home. However, with all the subpar (to put it mildly) movies getting theatrical releases, this one certainly deserved the same.
It could have been a great Valentine’s Day date for couples who want their romance with a side of darkness. In fact, I wouldn’t mind if Untitled Home Invasion Romance ended up with a sequel. Not that the story needs it, but I am ready for more with the main characters of this crazy story.
Untitled Home Invasion Romance premieres on Digital on January 27, 2026.
