THEY WILL KILL YOU is a horror action movie with lots of brilliant fight scenes, fountains of blood, and dark comedy. If you enjoyed the world of Ready or Not and Pretty Lethal, then this will be perfect for you. Also, if you like supernatural elements, this has treats for you as well. Perfect for fans of Sam Raimi. THEY WILL KILL YOU is a survival and revenge story that plays out as a horror action movie. There are horror slashers that have scenes with a lot of blood, and then there are the scenes with fountains of blood. Whether you recognize this from iconic kung fu movies, Kill Bill, or Monty Python, this should be a familiar treat. And yes, the line “it’s just a flesh wound” is uttered more than once here as well!
Fans of Send Help, Ready or Not (especially the sequel Here I Come), or even the new ballerina slasher Pretty Lethal, should enjoy the wild fight sequences of They Will Kill You. The absolute star of the movie is Zazie Beetz, who once again proves that she should be a lot busier headlining movies than she has been so far.

Be ready for… well, anything!
I expected They Will Kill You to be wild, which I say based simply on having watched the awesome trailer for it. And yes, if you liked the trailer, you can expect to love the movie. However, I didn’t expect it to be this wild. From the blood-soaked and blood-spraying scenes to the elements of a more diabolical (even supernatural) kind, They Will Kill You kept surprising.
This is the kind of movie that starts out like many classic survival or revenge movies (ultimately, They Will Kill You is both), but it quickly evolves into something more.
Zazie Beetz is such a fierce actor who delivers perfectly timed comedic moments and intense fight choreography. There are so many brilliant shots in this movie that stood out to me. Whether for their innovative approach or absolutely insane horror-comedy elements, they made quite the impression.
A quirky set of characters
The cast of They Will Kill You treats us to some very quirky characters. Zazie Beetz plays a woman who accepts a job as a housekeeper, which has more to do with her past and desperation than the desire to clean. I recognize this is often the case, but with this character, there is a lot more than meets the eye.
Fortunately, They Will Kill You offers amazing flashback introductions. These help you understand who the characters truly are and what their motivation in this story is based on. It’s a great little trick to keep the pace fast, while ensuring the audience is on board. In fact, I would’ve liked to know the background of a few more characters.
Of course, that’s just me being greedy. I got what I needed!
Aside from Zazie Beetz, who really is key to everything in this movie, we are gifted with the talents of wonderful genre actors. These include the intense Patricia Arquette (Severance) and the always wonderful Heather Graham (Suitable Flesh). Both are successful in various genres, but seem to be having a blast portraying these quirky and wild characters in genre productions. And I love it!
Also in the cast of They Will Kill You are Myha’La (Leave the World Behind), Paterson Joseph (Wonka), and Tom Felton (Burial).
Watch They Will Kill You in theaters
They Will Kill You comes from director Kirill Sokolov, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Alex Litvak. You may not be familiar with Kirill Sokolov, unless you’ve watched his 2018 dark comedy thriller Why Don’t You Just Die. It’s Russian, but it was a hit at many international genre film festivals (including Sitges and Fantasia), and now he has continued his career here in the West.
Alex Litvak previously co-wrote the screenplay for Predators (2010), which is one of the better-rated movies in the Predator franchise. Also, he is one of the writers behind the story of the upcoming He-Man movie, Masters of the Universe (2026).
Among the producers, we find some names that are very familiar to fans of horror movies. Especially of the Stephen King-based variety. Siblings Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti, who gave us the IT movies and the 2025 Welcome to Derry spin-off series. They also produced The Electric State, but (trust me!), this new movie is much more like something by Stephen King!
They Will Kill You is out only in theaters in North America on March 27, 2026.
Also, it’s being released internationally beginning March 25, 2026.
