THE NIGHT AGENT Season 2 on Netflix is a great second season and has only gotten darker and more relevant. I enjoyed the first season thanks to the lead character, and he has also evolved quite a bit as he faces new villains. Read our full The Night Agent Season 2 Review here!
THE NIGHT AGENT Season 2 is now on Netflix which means ten new episodes. I watched them all for this review which should tell you that it was good. If a series isn’t entertaining and engaging I rarely choose to make the time to watch all the episodes made available as screeners.
YOU MIGHT LIKE
However, for this second season of The Night Agent on Netflix, I wanted to keep going. The story in this season is even darker and gets closer to the world we’re currently living in. You’ll see exactly in what ways around the final episodes. Also, the stakes are even higher this time around.

Welcome to Night Action
In season 1, Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) was simply responsible for answering a phone in a basement office of the White House. He was “The Night Agent” and supposedly this phone would probably remain silent whenever he was there. But then it rang and the events of season 1 happened as a result.
Now, Peter Sutherland will be the one making the calls to a Night Agent. In The Night Agent Season 2, he is part of Night Action, which means he’s on a mission somewhere in the world. Always undercover and working for an organization that officially doesn’t even exist.
When we meet him in episode 1, it’s ten months after we last saw him at the end of season 1. Peter is on assignment and completely immersed in the mysterious world of Night Action. His partner is Alice (Brittany Snow) and she’s already a veteran, so she’s teaching him. This is a “learning by doing”-situation.

Lots of new faces but trust no one
While there aren’t many characters from season 1 in this second season, we do still have Rose (Luciane Buchanan) as well as Peter (Gabriel Basso). It’s a very different situation from season 1, but the two already have a lot of history and trust.
Especially the latter is important in a world where you can’t trust anyone.
I don’t want to give away much about the plot as watching it all unfold is part of the journey and experience. However, I can say that experimental weapons are involved and they are of the worst and most nasty kind. Also, Peter has already seen enough to make him paranoid and quicker to make tough decisions. Even to a fault.
Other new key characters are portrayed by actors you’ll probably recognize. From Amanda Warren (The Leftovers) and Louis Herthum (The Peripheral) to Arienne Mandi, Berto Colon, Michael Malarkey, and Keon Alexander.
Also, the already mentioned Brittany Snow and Hiro Kanagawa along with season 1 characters (some in flashbacks) portrayed by Fola Evans-Akingbola and Robert Patrick. To name just a few.
Watch The Night Agent S2 on Netflix now!
The creator of The Night Agent is still Shawn Ryan (The Shield, S.W.A.T.) who also serves as the Season 2 showrunner and is an Executive Producer on the Netflix series. The directors on the episodes of this second season are quite impressive. We have five directors each directing two consecutive episodes.
The directors – in order of which episodes they direct – are Guy Ferland (The Mist series), Adam Arkin (Sugar), Ana Lily Amirpour (Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon), Nina Lopez Corrado (The Last of Us), and Millicent Shelton (Hysteria!). All episodes are strong, but I especially noticed that when Ana Lily Amirpour directed.
As writers, we have creator Shawn Ryan himself writing the first episode of the new season (201). Also writing episodes of this season are Tiffany Shaw Ho (Debris), Corey Deshon (Daughter), Imogen Browder, Anayat Fakhraie (Orphan Black: Echoes), Luke Johnson, and Munis Rashid (S.W.A.T.).
In quite a few instances, The Night Agent S2 went darker than the first season. It all just means we have one wild ahead of us with season 3 which was already greenlit along with this second season. When you watch the ending of season 2, you’ll be very happy that we already know it isn’t over yet.
Season 2 of The Night Agent is on Netflix from January 23, 2025.
