THE CREEP TAPES on Shudder is a series based on the universe (and character) we know from the CREEP movies. Mark Duplass is as amazing as always and with half-hour episodes, we’re in for some wild rides. Read our The Creep Tapes series review here!
THE CREEP TAPES is a new Shudder series from Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, who also gave us the Creep movies. While I have always enjoyed the murderous universe of Peachfuzz, I wasn’t sure how well this series version would work.
The result, however, is that these stories almost work better as a series than a movie. As we know from the movies, Mark Duplass’ character is a loose cannon. Charming but awkward one moment and deadly the next. This season has 6 half-hour episodes, but hopefully, we’ll get more seasons!
Continue reading our season 1 review of The Creep Tapes series below. You can start watching the series on Shudder on November 15, 2024.
So many new Peachfuzz stories
The Creep Tapes is essentially more of the same, but in a more condensed way that suits this wacky and deadly universe. I mean, we’re talking about Mark Duplass playing a serial killer who loves putting on his wolf mask and using the name “Peachfuzz”.
That weird juxtaposition of a menacing wolf mask with huge teeth and the name “Peachfuzz” is just so unsettling on its own. However, it has always been Mark Duplass’ portrayal of this character that has been the most unsettling.
As the secluded serial killer who lures in videographers with the promise of easy money, Creep has created its own little universe. One where the serial killer gets his unknowing victims to film their own short path toward an untimely and usually very violent demise.
Season 1 of The Creep Tapes on Shudder
Each episode of The Creep Tapes is named after the victim. That’s not a spoiler but the very concept of the series. Actually, all Creep stories (whether movie or Shudder series episode) end in murder.
Each episode stars Mark Duplass and one guest star. Among these guest stars, we have Tai Leclaire, Josh Fadem, Scott Pritts, and Krisha Fairchild. For this first season of The Creep Tapes, we have the following episodes to look forward to.

Having that final episode of season 1 come out on a Friday the 13th is pure genius. And also an early Christmas present. However, I have to say that from episode 1, you’ll be hooked if you’ve enjoyed the Creep universe from the movies.
Please note: Originally, episode 6 “Mom (and Albert)” was presented as episode 3 during the world premiere of The Creep Tapes at Fantastic Fest. However, the episode is now the season finale, which it deserves to be.
You’ll see!

Creep began as a found footage horror movie by Mark Duplass and director Patrick Brice. It became a huge hit, and The Creep Tapes feels like a very natural progression of the universe. An evolution, if you will.
And there are many tapes, which I hope indicates that we will get a lot of seasons and ditto episodes. The Creep Tapes is a series produced by Duplass Brothers Productions (Sasquatch, Out There: Crimes of the Paranormal) and Shudder. Executive producers include series star Mark Duplass and director Patrick Brice. They also both serve as co-writers.
