SQUID GAME Season 3 is on Netflix, and that means the iconic megahit series from South Korea is ending. The final season has 6 hour-long episodes. They’re as heartbreaking and brutal as ever, so prepare yourself. Read our full Squid Game S3 review here!

SQUID GAME Season 3 on Netflix is giving us the ending we deserve. Is it the ending you want? Well, that’s surely very subjective. Also, what would be the ideal ending in the brutal and merciless world we’ve come to know as Squid Game?!

The final season has six episodes that are each around one hour long (sometimes even more), and it’s still created to keep you watching. Bingeworthy as hell and with cliffhangers that make it impossible not to keep watching, as it often ends mid-game.

How can it possibly end well?

When season 2 of Squid Game ended, it felt more like a midseason break than the end of a season. The fact that Squid Game season 3 picks up right where the second season left off only increases this feeling.

With the third and final season of Squid Game, we’re still following number 456, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), in the middle of his second Squid Game competition. Oh yes, after winning the game – and a fortune, I might add – in season 1, he just was not happy.

He decided he needed to end the games and avenge all those meaningless deaths, so he returned. In season 1, he lost his best friend in the final game, and lost a whole lot of new friends and “game partners” in the season 2 finale after attempting to start a revolution.

Now, in season 3, he has been driven to the edge and maybe even beyond by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). He had also entered the game and befriended 456 Gi-hun, which meant he could better control his attempts at ruining the game.

Squid Game: Season 3 – Review | Netflix Survival Series

Is Season 3 really the end of Squid Game on Netflix?

Yes, season 3 is the final season of Squid Game. Well, in this particular version, anyway. It seems almost impossible that Netflix would just give up on this cash cow. I mean, they’ve already done a reality game show based on Squid Game, so why stop there?!

With Stranger Things, we’re also getting the final season here in 2025. However, for that show, a Broadway show has been made, and a spin-off is supposedly already in the making.

Not much is known (not officially, anyway) about the Stranger Things spin-off. Yet!

Squid Game in a new location?!

However, it seems like Squid Game could easily be made in a new version all over the world. Like a Squid Game set in Mexico, using traditional children’s games that are popular there. Or, of course, the USA would be another obvious choice for a reboot of the series.

Or even one in International Water, where people from all over the world could compete?!

Officially, there are no plans to make other national (or international) versions of Squid Game. I just cannot imagine that Netflix would completely abandon a success that could quite easily continue in different versions.

Also, there just might be a little hint at the end of the final episode of Squid Game season 3. It certainly seems like they might be telling us that more is coming.

Whether this is just to tease us or because something is truly coming, we’ll just have to wait and see. And no doubt, the World Wide Web will soon be flooded with AI poster art trying to sell you on the idea that a new season is coming.

Watch Season 3 of Squid Game on Netflix now

The final season of Squid Game is finally here, and the six episodes of season 3 are all around one hour long, so there’s still plenty to watch and learn about this world.

This grand finale was written and directed by Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who had already promised that he would “bring the epic story to its deserved closure”.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk already made history when he became the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series at the 74th Primetime Emmys®. Now he’s back to helm the series as director, writer, and producer.

Will season 3 be everything you hoped for, or did you expect something else? You’ll have to watch the six new episodes to find out. If you’ve made it this far, I don’t have to warn you that it will be heartbreaking and extremely brutal. Still, this finale hits hard.

Squid Game Season 3 premieres on Netflix on June 27, 2025.

Plot

Devastated after losing his friend, Player 456 presses on — challenging the Front Man’s scheme in the final season of the globally most-watched series.

– I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
