REDUX REDUX is a new sci-fi thriller with a multiverse revenge story. Just when I thought I had it figured out, there was a new twist. Nothing forced or silly, but a strong vendetta story that most should be able to relate to. It’s definitely a genre-hybrid you do not want to miss. Read our full Redux Redux movie review here!
REDUX REDUX is a gorgeous genre-hybrid with a very strong character-driven plot. It managed to do virtually everything right, which means I highly recommend watching this. The main characters are at the very least likable, and certainly always relatable. A serial killer has messed with the wrong mom, so she is hunting him down.
Not just in this world, but in every world where she can find him. Oh yes, this sci-fi thriller is a delicious multiverse story that had me hooked from the very beginning. Also, it even abandons its main character for a little while, which is a damn bold move, but it works. Well, in this case it works, because I have certain experienced productions where it didn’t work as well.

A loop-based plot with an awesome twist
When I first read the Redux Redux plot about a woman who avenges her daughter’s death over and over again, I was ready for the classic loop plot, where we have a lot of repetition. Well, with this movie, the story plays out in a multiverse, so Irene Kelly (Michaela McManus) travels through many parallel universes.
In each universe, she has just one simple mission; To find her daughter’s murderer and kill him over and over again. Sure, she tries to get some answers out of him when possible, but most importantly, she wants him to suffer. Actually, no, most importantly, she wants him to disappear from every single universe, so he won’t ever kill another teenage girl.
As you’ll learn early on, Irene’s daughter is far from the only victim of this serial killer. His name is Neville (Jeremy Holm), and he, of course, has a box of trophies, so we know that he has plenty of victims.
To be honest, I watched this movie right after watching The Scream Murder documentary on Hulu, and seeing this serial killer story reminded me why it’s so important to stop killers who murder for sport as soon as possible. In the case of Neville, it’s very clear that his one passion in life is kidnapping, torturing, and killing teenage girls.
The price of revenge
Redux Redux is a revenge story, but it’s also one that highlights the price of dedicating your life to revenge. Killing someone over and over, as Irene does, isn’t without consequence. It takes a toll on her and strips her of humanity. It won’t bring her daughter back, as this isn’t an option with the multiverse traveling, but she will stop him.
In fact, she will even be joined by someone who would be his next victim, which makes for a perfect addition to the humanity of the story.
The young girl, who ends up being part of Irene’s life suddenly, is Mia (Stella Marcus), who is every bit as fierce and resourceful as Irene herself. They make for both an excellent team and an impossible one, as neither has much faith in their fellow man. Or woman, as it were.
Also playing key roles in Redux Redux are Jim Cumming (The Beta Test, 15 Cameras), Debra Christofferson (Salem’s Lot), Taylor Misiak (Going Dutch), and Dendrie Taylor (Sons of Anarchy, The Perfect Couple).
Watch Redux Redux in theaters
Redux Redux comes from the filmmaking brothers Kevin McManus & Matthew McManus. They wrote and directed this movie, just like they did with The Block Island Sound, which also starred Michaela McManus. And yes, Michaela is the sister of Kevin and Matthew, so this really is a McManus Family affair.
Not unlike the Adams Family, where it’s mom, dad, and their kids, who write, direct, and star in the movies. What can I say? When it works, it works, and with the Adams Family and the McManus Family, it just works!
Redux Redux was actually a movie I had fairly high expectations for, but it was much better. Mostly due to the character-driven story and the very humane approach to revenge. I know that might sound strange, but this isn’t about showing or glorifying violence. It’s about a woman who lost everything due to a sadistic man and wants to make sure he will never hurt anyone again.
That’s why it has become her life mission. In this world, and every other world she can reach in the multiverse.
And yes, the whole traveling across parallel universes element is covered. Not in some huge scientific explanation, but rather as a quick mention here and there. Some people know about this, but not many, so those who are in the know have a particular way to communicate. Yet another solid element. Do not miss out on Redux Redux, which may break your heart, but also restore your faith in humanity!
REDUX REDUX will be out In Theaters from February 20, 2026.
