ODDITIES is a horror thriller that surprised me in many pleasant ways. It gets fairly wild, but in ways that fit the plot. The core cast is small, but they work perfectly. When I thought I knew where the story was headed, I was never quite right. And I loved that about it. Read our full Oddities movie review here!
ODDITIES is a horror thriller that just had its world premiere at the Brussels International Film Festival in Belgium. This also means you can’t watch the movie right now, but I am telling you that when you get the chance, you’ll want to jump at it.
NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH…
The cast of this horror-thriller is fairly small, but it still manages to have a few icons among them. I really liked how the plot often took a turn just when I felt I had a grip on where this would go next. Being surprised is a great pleasure when you watch many movies. And I watch a lot of movies.

A survival story that escalates wildly!
Oddities begins as a story about two extremely self-destructive best friends (Lilimar and Lovie Simone), who have lost their grip on life. They are constantly drunk or high and have no real plan for their future. Of course, whatever plan they may have had is thrown aside when they accidentally kill their drug dealer.
It was self-defence, but some very bad (and violent) people are now after them. As a result, they have to leave behind what little they have and flee town.
Getting away isn’t without its challenges, and they end up stopping at a roadside antique shop to avoid the attention of a police officer on their heels. The older woman (Adrienne Barbeau) running the place is quick to spot the two young women in need and helps them out.
However, this is when you would do well to remember that Oddities is a horror-thriller (and the name of the antique shop). Soon, the best friends will learn that the woman isn’t as sweet as she first seemed. If being chased by angry drug dealers or the police felt bad, it’s nothing compared to what they’re about to experience!
The cast alone should intrigue you
Though the plot and overall storyline should be more than enough to get you interested in watching Oddities, the cast will probably be what gets your attention first. Despite the fact that this plot sounds very simple, there are some wonderful nuances along the way. To make sure they come across properly, you need strong actors in the cast.
With Oddities, we are in luck as both Lilimar (Hubie Halloween) and Lovie Simone (The Craft: Legacy) work perfectly in their respective roles – and as best friends. Also, the iconic Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog, Escape from New York) is perfectly cast as the woman running the antique shop… and much more!
Finally, we have Xander Berkeley (Candyman), Will Oldham (A Ghost Story), Lucas Fleisher, James Lee Thomas, and Gunner Willis in key roles.
Watch Oddities as soon as you get the chance
Oddities was written & directed by Tyler Savage, who also made the 2023 short film it’s based on. In the short film, Adrienne Barbeau played the same character as in this feature film version, but Logan Miller was also in the cast. Clearly, a few updates and changes were made to this full-length take on the plot.
Filmmaker Tyler Savage also gave us the 2017 horror mystery Inheritance and the 2020 thriller Stalker. The runtime of his latest film is 89 minutes, and it works very well for the plot. Make sure you pay attention until the very end. There’s an extra little treat before all has been said and done. And that’s all I’ll say about that.
You’ll definitely want to avoid spoilers beyond anything the official plot (or upcoming trailer) might reveal. I certainly enjoyed getting to know what this movie was truly about as the story evolved and expanded. Think Barbarians, though this is nothing like that movie. However, both movies begin in one place and end up in a wildly different one!
Oddities world premiered at the Brussels International Film Festival on April 14, 2026.
