MURDER MINDFULLY: Season 2 is on Netflix now, and the 8 new half-hour episodes are as great as the first time around. This German crime, thriller, dark comedy show has so many surprising and quirky moments – all while being eerily relatable. Read our Murder Mindfully S2 review here!
MURDER MINDFULLY Season 2 on Netflix delivers eight new episodes of the popular crime, thriller, dark comedy hybrid from Germany (org. title: Achtsam Morden). Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, which could also have been a nice ending if the show hadn’t been renewed.
DO NOT MISS OUT ON…
Fortunately, it was a hit, so here we are, getting a second season. The main character of Björn still makes bad decisions, is followed by bad luck, and breaks the fourth wall by speaking directly to you. And I really enjoy that this show is continuing right where it ended its first season.

Heal your inner child
In season 2 of Murder Mindfully, Björn Diemel (Tom Schilling) is doing much better. At least, it seems that he has his life under control. Of course, this isn’t actually the case as we’ll see in the opening scene, where he is on an idyllic vacation in the Austrian Alps.
WANT A SEASON 1 RECAP OF MURDER MINDFULLY?
Don’t worry, Netflix got you covered this time around, because yes, there is a season 1 recap before episode 1 of season 2 begins. Watch it, because there are many details that you’ll probably need to be reminded of.
In any case, Björn still goes to sessions with his mindfulness coach. And, boy, does he need to go see him after what went down while on a family vacation.
As a result, he now discovers (obviously, thanks to his very mindful teacher) that his inner child is in pain. Björn doesn’t quite buy into this idea at first, but he soon will. As part of a healing process, he starts paying more attention to his inner child, which turns out to deliver a very mixed bag of experiences.
Don’t always listen to your inner child
While Björn spends much of Murder Mindfully season 2 dealing with his inner child – and the pain of childhood – he also listens a little too much to this inner child. Obviously, a child tends to have other ideas of what is fun or fair, but perhaps Björn really is still a child at heart.
He certainly does tend to make rash decisions and finds it very hard to control his temper. Hence, the whole mindfulness coach ordeal.
In any case, this would probably be manageable if it weren’t also for Björn’s job as a criminal defence lawyer. The kind who has clients who are very much criminals, and who expect him to help them. No matter what he needs to do.
During season 1, this resulted in many desperate actions, and this theme continues in season 2. However, others are watching him and know a few too many of his secrets. Soon, he finds himself getting blackmailed. All while still pretending to be the crime boss that he killed in season 1.
It’s a lot, but it’s also very entertaining, and the Netflix series continues to work surprisingly well.
Watch season 2 of Murder Mindfully on Netflix now
Murder Mindfully is (still, obviously) based on the novel by Karsten Dusse. This series adaptation is written by Doron Wisotzky (Hagen), and the eight new episodes are directed by Martina Plura (Unsichtbarer Angreifer), Boris Kunz (Paradise), and the Oscar-nominated Max Zähle (Raju).
Tom Schilling (Never Look Away) continues to deliver a solid portrayal of the defence attorney, Björn Diemel, who is a lovable idiot. He is someone you both root for and want to pay for (at least some of) his sins. Murathan Muslu (Brick) returns as Sacha, the mobster and current kindergarten teacher.
Also back are Emily Cox (Constellation) as Katharina, Björn’s wife, Peter Jordan (Tatort) as the mindfulness coach, Joschka Breitner, and Britta Hammelstein (Woman of the Dead) as the police officer, Nicole Eckmann.
If you enjoyed the first season, there is plenty to keep watching for. The same dark comedy vibe with crime-thriller elements and lots of surprises. Often at the hand of the main character, who cannot seem to catch a break – or make good decisions!
Murder Mindfully Season 2 is on Netflix from May 28, 2026.
