MIKE & NICK & NICK & ALICE on Hulu is a sci-fi comedy with a time travel plot. Well, actually, the element is more of a survival plot. It’s entertaining but not good, but it will probably end up having a sequel. The ending certainly points to that. I enjoyed the cast, but the plot was pretty light. MIKE & NICK & NICK & ALICE is a Hulu & Disney+ sci-fi action comedy. It’s a time-travel-slash-survival story that you should check out for its cast, while knowing it won’t be groundbreaking. It’s also too long, with its runtime of 1 hour and 47 minutes. I’m not at all surprised this didn’t get a theatrical release, but for a Friday night at home, it should be a slam-dunk!
I mean, we have Vince Vaughn, James Marsden, and Eiza González portraying the lead characters. I’d watch it no matter what any movie review said. The cast carries (sometimes almost drags) this movie through many predictable scenes and moments, though it does have a few tricks up its proverbial sleeve.

The official plot isn’t quite accurate
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is mostly an action comedy, but with a plot that has sci-fi elements, and also a lot of very violent scenes. It is R-rated, and things do get quite bloody. Sometimes in funny ways meant to make you laugh or cheer, but also in very violent ways.
The official plot speaks of this story featuring two gangsters and the woman they love, but that’s just wrong. Only one of them loves the woman, and that’s sort of the point. The two gangsters are kind of friends, but definitely colleagues.
They all need to get through this one night, which will be the most dangerous night of their lives. Not least due to a Cannibal Assassin chasing them. An assassin they have no idea what looks like, but they do know that it’s someone who likes to eat their marks, so there’s that.
Look, I love that little detail (and the actor portraying the character), but this movie could easily have been 15-20 minutes shorter. In fact, it would have been better for it. Too many one-liners miss their mark, and not because of the actors, but because they are too obvious and come across as forced.
Watch it for the three leads
For me, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is worth watching for its three leads. They all deliver what you would expect from them, and sometimes that’s enough. I mean, it’s not enough for this movie to be truly good, but it is enough that it’s worth watching for a nice night at home.
As the sci-fi plot revolves around a time machine, we have Vince Vaughn (Freaky) as Nick in both a present and a future version. Playing just one version of their lead characters are James Marsden (Paradise) as Mike and Eiza González (3 Body Problem) as Alice.
You know what they can bring to any project, and they give it all their respective characters can handle in this sci-fi comedy action hybrid.
Also in the cast are some wonderful actors you should enjoy. These include Keith David (Shelby Oaks), Jimmy Tatro (Scream 7), Stephen Root, Lewis Tan, Ben Schwartz (Renfield), Emily Hampshire (Appendage), Dolph Lundgren, and Arturo Castro.

Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice was written and directed by BenDavid Grabinski. He previously wrote and directed the 2021 genre-hybrid Happily, starring Kerry Bishé and Joel McHale. Also, he co-created the Nickelodeon series Are You Afraid of the Dark?, so this is a much darker turn.
Despite giving this just a 2 out of 5, which is a Rotten rating, I still think it’s worth your time. However, it’s the kind of movie where you will probably look at your phone at least once. Maybe even do a quick drink or bathroom run without pausing.
If you’re looking for something to just entertain and “chill” to, then this is a good choice. Just don’t expect too much.
MIKE & NICK & NICK & ALICE premieres on Hulu (and Hulu on Disney+) on March 27, 2026.

Plot
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is a hilarious, stylized, R-rated action-comedy about two gangsters and the woman they love trying to survive the most dangerous night of their lives. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s one wild ingredient added to the mix: a time machine.
