HIS & HERS on Netflix is a new Crime Thriller Mystery Series with just six 45-minute episodes. This is a murder mystery paired with a psychological thriller driver, and characters that are absolute messes. This alone is entertaining enough for most people to watch, but the ending is what makes it simply brilliant. Read our full His & Hers series review here!

HIS & HERS is a new Netflix series with a murder plot that turns into a possible serial killer mystery. The actual plot is wonderful, but it’s the casting that made it all come together for me. Okay, and the pacing. And the gorgeous production quality and directing. All right, it was just an overall gorgeous achievement of this adaptation.

With just six 45-minute episodes, you will want to binge-watch it. If nothing else, to avoid spoilers, as this series will definitely get people talking. Besides, each episode tends to end with some wild twist (usually someone is murdered), so you have to keep watching to know how it’s all connected.

Anna is back

When His & Hers begins, the Netflix series opens with Anna (Tessa Thompson) as the narrator. We’ll soon learn that Anna has been missing for a year. Or no, not missing, but just up and left her life behind to find herself… or a reason to continue living, if you will.

Now, she’s back in Dahlonega, outside Atlanta, Georgia, where she grew up. After having been away in reclusivity, both friends and family have been waiting to hear from her. Even her boss, as she was enjoying a career as a news anchor in Atlanta. So, when she’s ready to return and gets wind of a murder in her hometown of Dahlonega, she’s ready to get back to work.

Dahlonega is a sleepy town filled with many rich, white people enjoying a nice, calm life. Or rather, a life where they do what they want. Also living there are the people who work for them, though, obviously, in another area.

Who can you trust?

As Anna begins working the murder case, searching for that all-important scoop to win back her job as news anchor, she uses all the tricks in the book. From calling out Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal), her estranged husband, on live TV to being suspicious of everyone. At the same time, many – not least Jack – is equally suspicious of Anna.

Her strange timing of returning alongside a murder is a little too convenient.

But who do you believe and who should you trust in Dahlonega? Well, no one, really, but you’ll get the answers to this mystery, so don’t worry too much about it. Also, we have an outsider working alongside Detective Jack Harper, in the form of Priya (Sunita Mani), who doesn’t need to worry about old friendships or alliances when searching for the truth.

In other key roles, you can look forward to Pablo Schreiber (Candy), Crystal Fox (A Fall from Grace), Rebecca Rittenhouse (Into the Dark), and Marin Ireland (Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy), to name just a few.

His & Hers – Review | Netflix Crime Thriller Series

Netflix series His & Hers brilliant ending

Don’t worry, I’m not going to do spoilers for the His & Hers Netflix series ending here. I mean, it’s based on a book, so you may have an idea of how it ends, but as someone who has not read the book, I had no idea where it was going. Or, you know, we’re given clues in the series, so I did have an idea of how it would evolve before anything was revealed.

And then again, the ending keeps on delivering, so I was one very happy camper. No matter how much I guessed, seeing it play out on the screen made the Netflix series His & Hers ending absolutely brilliant!

Also, the series has just six episodes, so it doesn’t run on for too long.

However, I cannot highlight that final episode of His & Hers enough. Yes, the ending of His & Hers did admittedly take my breath away. I loved all the reveals and twists that came throughout, but the very final part of the His & Hers ending left me gaping, mouth open, at the screen as a smile spread across my face.

Watch the His & Hers series on Netflix

The new Netflix His & Hers series is based on a novel by Alice Feeney. I definitely want to check out that book after watching this series. A gorgeous thriller crime mystery with a very active and aggressive killer at the heart of it all. Tessa Thompson (Hedda, Creed, Marvel’s Thor) is an executive producer as well as star of the series, so this is clearly a passion project for her. And I can certainly see why!

William Oldroyd (Eileen, Lady Macbeth) and Dee Johnson (Fellow Travelers, The Good Wife, ER) are co-showrunners on the Netflix series, which they also executive produce and write. Also onboard as executive producers are Kristen Campo for Campout Productions, Jessica Chastain & Kelly Carmichael for Freckle Films, and finally, Kishori Rajan for Viva Maude.

Two directors handle the directing of the six episodes, and they are co-showrunner William Oldroyd and Anja Marquardt. Previously, Anja Marquardt directed season 3 of The Girlfriend Experience, and I can see why directing that particular anthology series would make her ideal for this Netflix adaptation.

If the cast or premise sound even mildly interesting, you do not want to miss out on this Netflix series. It is simply glorious – especially thanks to that ending!

HIS & HERS premieres globally on Netflix on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

– I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
