BUZZKILL on Tubi is a gorgeous slasher horror-comedy that plays into all the stereotypes in just the right way.  Of course, it does also come from Jem Garrard, who has made some of the best Tubi Originals. Read our full Buzzkill movie review here and check it out on Tubi now!

BUZZKILL is a Tubi Original, and despite “only” getting a 3 out of 5, it deserves a spot on our “Best of Tubi” list because I could easily watch this one again. It’s fun, bloody, and full of gore as any solid slasher horror-comedy should be.

The runtime is just around an hour and a half, but with the commercial breaks, you should expect it to be closer to two hours. Hey, it’s free entertainment, so I’m not complaining. I just wanted to mention it.

Drunk Nora will save the day

Buzzkill begins with a murder. Yes, just like most awesome slasher movies, but with this one, the comedy and camp are also obvious from that very first kill.

The first victim is the president of the Sigma sorority, Ashley, but Nora was also present during the murder. Or, well, she was around and very drunk. As a result, Nora has become convinced that in order to solve the murder, she has to get drunk again.

And stay drunk.

Somehow, her memory and logic just work better when she’s drunk. Unfortunately, she also gets distracted very easily and is forgetful in a straight-up Memento-like way. As a result, Nora also tends to write words on her body or other surfaces.

It’s a mess, really, but also very entertaining.

As the sorority sisters all believe the killer was Ashley’s boyfriend, they’re not on board with the “investigation”, but they do care for Nora. They also just need her to behave on the next big night for the sorority, which is no small task.

Buzzkill – Review | Tubi Slasher Horror-Comedy

Great casting

If you liked watching Siena Agudong as Nora, then you can look forward to seeing her again very soon. She plays one of the key characters in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Carrie series and does a stellar job.

You may also recognize her from the Netflix series Resident Evil, which I did not care for. This has nothing to do with her performance, though.

It was actually fun seeing her in this very different role as (mostly drunk) Nora. A fun and annoying, yet also really sweet and caring, character, who you cannot help but like. Don’t worry, you’ll like Siena Agudong in Carrie as well.

I really hope we’ll get to see her in more genre productions soon.

Also in Buzzkill, you’ll get to see Brec Bassinger, who you should recognize from Final Destination: Bloodlines, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, and Grizzly Night. Also, she was Stargirl in the series of the same name.

Plus, of course, Robyn Scott in yet another solid comedic role as Security Guard Joan. She’s always in Jem Garrard’s movies, as she should be.

Jem Garrard strikes again

If you’re not familiar with Jem Garrard genre movies on Tubi by now, then you have been missing out. This is the director behind several movies on our list of the “Best Horror movies on Tubi“, and their movies always hit a sweet spot.

Sure, not all of them are my favorite. On the other hand, if it’s one of my Tubi favorite movies, odds are that Jem Garrard directed it.

Again, if you’re new to Jem Garrard movies, then you have a lot of treats in store. Be sure to check out Slay and Invasive, but also Takeout.

Watch Buzzkill on Tubi now

As already mentioned several times, Jem Garrard directed the Tubi Original, and I am once again convinced that Tubi can deliver awesome entertainment. For this one, Jem Garrard didn’t write the screenplay.

Instead, Buzzkill was written by Suzanne Keilly, who previously wrote on several big genre series.

These include Ash vs Evil Dead, Light as a Feather, and Warrior Nun. Also, Suzanne Keilly wrote Danishka Esterhazy‘s 2021 Slumber Party Massacre remake and the 2018 horror-comedy Killer High, which was also directed by Jem Garrard.

If you’re someone who enjoys a solid horror-comedy slasher with lots of campy moments and kitsch details with practical effects, then check out Buzzkill on Tubi. It certainly does not live up to its name, which is obviously a good thing in this case.

Buzzkill premiered on Tubi on September 25, 2026.

– I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
