WORDS TO DIE BY is a round-based card game coming soon if their Kickstarter is successful. It’s launching on April 1st (and that’s no joke), so be sure to check it out. This sounds perfect for fans of horror movies. Read more about the Words to Die By project here.
WORDS TO DIE BY is described by its creators as “A Horrifically Hysterical Party Game,” which sounds right up our alley. Admittedly, we don’t usually cover these things, but this sounded too good to pass by.
Also, a dear friend of this website, who always represents amazing movies by indie filmmakers, sent it our way. He has never sent anything our way that wasn’t worth covering, so we weren’t about to stop covering what he’s supporting now.
Plus, let’s keep it real, we really would like to have this game ourselves. If that’s the case, then surely, we must do what we can to help manifest it via crowdfunding on their Kickstarter.
In Words to Die By, we’re getting a party game of theatrical horror flair. We’re talking dark humor used to create absurdly over-the-top death scenes. Each player takes on the roles of writers, directors, and actors. All trying to make the most memorable final moments imaginable.
Cards Against Humanity meets a Cult Horror Movie
You had me at Cards Against Humanity, which I love playing. When you then add my love of horror movies, I just want to say: Take my money already!
By their own description, Words to Die By is a “round-based horror movie party game”. It’s the kind of game where you get to write the script, be the director of the madness, and then ultimately meet a terrible fate. After all, this is a part game where everyone dies.
FROM THE OFFICIAL ‘WORDS TO DIE BY’ KICKSTARTER
“Each round, you are given ridiculous death scenes, twist tropes and dying words, and director’s cut cards to abuse power and sabotage your friends. After the performance there are the award nominations for best acting and writing, all leading up to one person winning the Golden Scythe Award (our “Death Oscar”) and the most unhinged awards speech of your life.”
Obviously, this game is perfect for all those horror fans who find themselves disappointed with most of the new movies coming out. You know who you are. The kind who would rather rewatch horror movies from decades past. Hey, no shame in that, to each their own.
However, maybe it’s time to try your own hand at this horror movie business via a game. A crazy kind of game. The kind where you can hear Jigsaw asking you to play along. Here at Heaven of Horror, we’d certainly love to try it out, so do check it out. Maybe it’s your horror jam as well!
