A serial killer series on Prime Video is #1 and we can easily understand why. Read more about the new series with a highly creative serial killer – and the cop chasing him – right here!

There’s a new serial killer series on Prime Video that has become an instant hit. If you’re also into intense crime thrillers with complex characters and a gripping story, then Cross on Prime Video might be for you. In fact, it should be pretty darn perfect for you!

The series, based on James Patterson’s popular Alex Cross book series, has very quickly become a favorite among viewers and is currently the number one show on the streaming service. We can’t say we didn’t expect that, as it features a highly creative serial killer.

Also, we’re even following the serial killer from the sidelines most of the way, so we know what he’s up to as he takes action.

The cop and the serial killer

Prime Video’s Cross stars Aldis Hodge as the title character Alex Cross. This character is a skilled detective and forensic psychologist in Washington, D.C. In the series, we follow him as he struggles with both personal loss and the hunt for a sadistic serial killer.

This killer operates in such a sophisticated way that his crimes initially seem like random accidents. However, Cross begins to find patterns and delves deep into the criminal’s psyche to create a profile and uncover the truth.

The series also features a strong supporting cast, including Isaiah Mustafa as Cross’s loyal sidekick, John Sampson. You can also look forward to Johnny Ray Gill, who delivers an unforgettable (at times wild and crazy) performance as the enigmatic Bobby Trey.

Fanboy from the Cross series

The Hunt for a Fanboy

Our own Cross season 1 review here at Heaven of Horror also focuses on the fact that the series offers a mix of suspense and psychological depth. Aldis Hodge in the lead role is crucial to the series’ success. His nuanced performance offers both strength and vulnerability.

However, we all know that the villain is often the most intriguing character. Be it a Disney movie or a horror movie. While Cross delves into both the killer’s methods and Alex Cross’ own PTSD challenges, it’s creating a world that you can immerse yourself in.

The storyline is both thought-provoking and nerve-wracking.

It’s impossible not to focus on the serial killer, who’s nicknamed “Fanboy” by the police and media. He kills victims who resemble well-known serial killers. They must die in the same way as the original serial killer, which requires a lot of planning, but Fanboy manages it.

Also, Fanboy has his own fans who follow the murders on a live stream. However, Fanboy is smart enough to hide his identity with a mask on these recordings. So, while we as the audience quickly find out who hides behind the mask, Fanboy’s fans must wait until his final work is done!

Why should you watch Cross on Prime Video?

You should, of course, watch the new serial killer series on Prime Video if you enjoy a good crime story. The kind where both the “good guys” and the “bad guys” have nuances. Also, one where the serial killer is a truly fascinating character. A narcissistic psycho, obviously, but very entertaining.

Give Cross a chance if you like a series that:

  • Combines classic crime with modern psychological thriller
  • Explores themes such as loss, justice, and the search for the truth
  • Offers eight episodes filled with tension that will make it hard not to binge-watch
  • Doesn’t end after season 1 – Cross season 2 has already been filmed

Cross is available to watch on Prime Video now and is already receiving praise for both its script and production. It’s a must-watch for fans of the serial killer genre and intelligent crime stories.

I usually keep up-to-date with all the horror news, and make sure Heaven of Horror share the best and latest trailers for upcoming horror movies. I love all kinds of horror. My love affair started when I watched 'Poltergeist' alone around the age of 10. I slept like a baby that night and I haven't stopped watching horror movies since. The crazy slasher stuff isn't really for me, but hey, to each their own. I guess I just like to be scared and get jump scares, more than being disgusted and laughing at the grotesque. Also, Korean and Spanish horror movies made within the past 10-15 years are among my absolute favorites.
