1992 Netflix series questions and answers

In the below Q&A, we’ll be talking about some of the most asked questions. Some are simply elements of the story. However, most questions do directly play into the ending. No matter what questions you have, hopefully, the answers can be found below.

What are Palacios, Zamorano, Granjero, Valcárcel and Victoria hiding?

That a sex worker was accidentally killed during a raunchy and drunken celebration ahead of the 1992 Expo. To cover this up, they burned her body rather than admit to having been paying for the services these women provided.

Who is Rosa?

Rosa was one of the sex workers who was a friend of Victor’s mother, Marga. She devoted herself to helping Victor once he escaped the asylum.

Who are the three girls in the photograph?

Margarita (Marga), Rosa and Azucena. The three were friends and colleagues at the strip club who also sold their services as call girls – with the club owner facilitating as their pimp. All three helped take care of Marga’s son Victor when they were working together.

How did Marga die?

One of the men in charge of Expo 1992 was having very aggressive relations with Marga who was leaning over a glass table. This table broke and the glass pieces sliced her body all over. She most likely died from blood loss.

Who was the serial killer and why is his body full of scars?

The serial killer targeting the Expo 1992 moneymen was Marga’s son Victor. He wanted to avenge the death of his mother and the nasty way they tried to cover up their deeds.

Her death was an accident, but their reputations meant more than her life.

Victor was burned badly when he tried to rescue his mother’s body in a fire started to cover up the murder.

Who was the real extortioner of the Expo 1992 men?

Fernando Victoria was the assistant of the Minister. The latter was the one who was physically on top of Marga when the glass table broke.

Fernando Victoria was on the brink of bankruptcy when inspiration struck as he discovered Victor was out of the asylum. He realized that with a little nudging, he could get Victor to act out revenge.

Once this began, Fernando Victoria himself would blackmail the remaining Expo 1992 men. Each time another one of them died a gruesome fiery death, Fernando Victoria was one step closer to getting his blackmail money.

He managed to make them believe the murders were part of a blackmail scheme and not Marga’s son seeking revenge. A smart double-pronged attack that didn’t quite work out according to plan.

What was Fernando Victoria’s plan?

First, he wanted to blackmail his former boss (the Minister) and did it by killing off the rest of the Expo 1992 team. His plan was then to kill Victor, the adult son of Marga who was burned all over his body, to wrap up the entire serial killer story nicely.

Maybe he could even become the hero in some strange way, as he was working with the police all along.

Netflix Series 1992 Ending Explained & FAQ

Why did the serial killer target Fernando Victoria?

At first, the serial killer (the burned Victor, son of Marga) was working with Fernando Victoria to kill off the Expo 1992 men, who were the reason his mom died.

That all changed when Victor saw video footage of his mother’s death. Oh yeah, the geniuses recorded themselves being with sex workers. Seeing his mother’s death was bad enough, but then the camera also shows Fernando Victoria working with the Expo 1992 men.

There he was, front and center, almost seemingly telling the panicked senior men what to do in the situation. Of course, Fernando Victoria had never admitted to Victor that he was part of getting rid of his mom, Marga.

Victor doesn’t discover that he was involved until right after the last of the Expo 1992 executives suffered a brutal death by fire. He was leaving – having completed his revenge – but wants to go back to kill Fernando Victoria as well.

Where are Richi’s wife and daughter?

A good question that isn’t answered but maybe they’re leaving this open-ended so it can be explored in further seasons? At first, we were told that Riche, the ex-cop, had lost his wife and daughter in a car accident.

During the 1992 ending, we find out that there was an accident, but they survived. However, he was driving the car while drunk, and this was the last straw, so they left him. The daughter wasn’t that young, so it seems strange that they had absolutely no relationship after the split.

A quick line during the 1992 ending could’ve helped this. Just noting that he was now several months sober and had talked to his ex-wife about seeing his daughter, would’ve been good.

Why is Richi seeing ghosts even when he isn’t drinking?

It seems that seeing ghosts is his conscience manifesting. These ghosts are always pointing out things that Richi feels bad about or lies that he has told.

The fact that he never saw his wife and daughter was an indication that maybe they weren’t dead.

Why does Victor continue to burn himself?

We see Victor holding his hand over an open fire and burning himself. He is already burned all over his body so it seems strange that he continues to burn himself.

However, in a glimpse, we see that the pain of fire brings forth memories of how his mom was burned.

It seems Victor hurts himself with fire because it connects him to his beloved mom and reminds him why he’s out for revenge.

Why was Victor in an asylum?

We never get an actual answer to why Victor was committed, but he clearly never moved past the night his mom died. The same night where he became burned all over when he went into the burning building to get her body out of the fire.

He probably suffered a full mental breakdown, so both his body and mind never recovered.

It’s only mentioned in passing that he escaped and clearly, it wasn’t something that was publicized. Otherwise, he would have been a wanted man. The kind the police would warn you about and ask for help finding, so they could get him back to the hospital.

Emily wrote us and asked the following:

Why didn’t Amparo’s husband tell her that he was an alcoholic?

Towards the end of 1992, Richi tells Amparo that her late husband wasn’t having an affair on Thursdays. Richi knew where he was as they were attending AA meetings together. Or were, until Richi fell off the wagon.

Ampara’s husband was 18 years sober but never told her that he was an alcoholic.  Instead, he had opted for the mysterious “I’m allergic to alcohol” explanation. Technically, not a lie, as an alcoholic does have a problem with alcohol that could be described as an allergy.

Just like some people are allergic to grass while others aren’t the least bothered by it, he couldn’t drink alcohol without it being a problem even though others (his wife, Amparo, for example) could.

So, why didn’t he just tell his wife that he was an alcoholic?

Well, most likely, he didn’t want to get in the way of her enjoying alcohol. Also, he probably didn’t want her to worry. Finally, like with any other kind of lie, it’s difficult to suddenly go back and tell a different story, so he stuck with the allergy explanation.

I usually keep up-to-date with all the horror news, and make sure Heaven of Horror share the best and latest trailers for upcoming horror movies. I love all kinds of horror. My love affair started when I watched 'Poltergeist' alone around the age of 10. I slept like a baby that night and I haven't stopped watching horror movies since. The crazy slasher stuff isn't really for me, but hey, to each their own. I guess I just like to be scared and get jump scares, more than being disgusted and laughing at the grotesque. Also, Korean and Spanish horror movies made within the past 10-15 years are among my absolute favorites.
