As a child of the 1980s, I grew up watching horror-comedy, adventure thrillers, and gory slasher movies. It’s no wonder genre movies would help define a hobby that became a lifestyle.

My nickname here on Heaven of Horror is ScreamQueen, and yes, I do still find myself screaming when watching an efficient horror movie. I co-founded Heaven of Horror with my wife in 2009, as a Danish website, but in 2016 we also made a version in English.

Or as we refer to it “The International Love child of two Danish girls”.

I love psychological horror, survival horror, and kick-ass female characters, which we’re often blessed with as “The Final Girl” is an institution within genre films. Especially horror movies. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy where things are way over the top.

I’m often asked about my favorite horror movies and always say it’s impossible to answer. Then I name at least ten titles anyway, only to feel like I left out many more. That’s the stuff of my nightmares; Forgetting to pay homage to an amazing genre movie, I wish everyone would watch.

I usually keep up-to-date with all the horror news, and make sure Heaven of Horror shares the best and latest trailers for upcoming horror movies. I love all kinds of horror, and co-founded this website to share my love of genre productions.

My love affair with horror started when I watched Poltergeist alone around the age of 10. I slept like a baby that night and I haven’t stopped watching horror movies since.

The crazy slasher and gore stuff isn’t really for me, but hey, to each their own. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the classic slashers as much as any horror fan. Those that become too sinister or too silly just aren’t for me.

I prefer psychological horror to the in-your-face and wildly over-the-top style. Still, there are exceptions, but isn’t that always the case?!

Bottomline: I guess I just like to get scared and enjoy well-made jump scares, more than being disgusted and laughing at the grotesque. Also, Korean and Spanish horror movies made within the past few decades are among my absolute favorites.

Cognitive neuroscientist by day, avid horror fan by night, I began writing reviews/recaps for Heaven of Horror in March 2019. I have a particular affinity to found-footage horror, but I truly love all horror subgenres. As a diagnosed sufferer of obsessive-compulsive disorder, horror movies help relieve my anxieties (and apparently, there’s some science to support that).

My favorite horror films/shows include Let the Right One In, Hell House LLC, Host, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, The Babysitter, The Haunting of Hill House, and so many more. I’m very particular about a film’s originality when I write reviews, and I hope to steer y’all in the right directions when it comes to which movies to stream versus skip.

Happy viewing!
