Check out the full trailer for ‘The Exorcist’ TV show. It was only a matter of time before one of the greatest horror movies would be turned into a TV show.

The original movie version of The Exorcist is widely regarded as one of the best horror movies ever made, and with TV shows being in their golden age, it was only a matter of time before we’d get to experience one of the horror greats being turned into a TV show.

The official plot of The Exorcist TV show, which will air on FOX, is the following:

Two very different priests tackle one family’s case of terrifying demonic possession

Short and to the point. The plot description of the original 1973 The Exorcist movie was “When a teenage girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her daughter”, so we’re staying very much along the same lines.

The original movie was directed by William Friedkin, who was nominated for a Best Director Academy Award. In fact, The Exorcist was nominated for a total of 10 Academy Awards and won two – one for Best Sound and another for Best Adapted screenplay. Most of the actors were nominated as well, including Ellen Burstyn, who played the mother, and Linda Blair, who portrayed the possessed daugther, Regan, in her most iconic role to date. Also, Jason Miller was nominated for his role as the young priest, while Max von Sydow (who’s currently doing a stint on Game of Thrones) actually wasn’t nominated for his role as the more experienced priest.

But enough about the movie, because this is all aout the new The Exorcist TV show version, which has attracted quite a lot of talent as well. The main star of the cast is Geena Davis (Thelma & LouiseThe Fly), who plays the mother, while Alfonso Herrera (Sense8) plays the young priest, and Ben Daniels (House of Cards) has taken on the role of the more experience and somewhat hardcore priest. Brianna Howey (Scream Queens) plays the possessed daughter.

The pilot is directed by Rupert Wyatt, who was the director of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, so trying to reboot a classic story isn’t exactly new to him. And I absolutely adored his Planet of the Apes movie, so this gives me a lot of hope for The Exorcist – though of course, that was a huge blockbuster movie and this is a TV show. The script for the pilot is by Jeremy Slater, who had his screenwriter debut with The Lazarus Effect (starring Olivia Wilde, Mark Duplass and Evan Peters) just last year in February 2015.

The Exorcist will air on Fridays this Fall on FOX

Finally, here’s the official trailer for the new TV show version of The Exorcist:

I usually keep up-to-date with all the horror news, and make sure Heaven of Horror share the best and latest trailers for upcoming horror movies. I love all kinds of horror. My love affair started when I watched 'Poltergeist' alone around the age of 10. I slept like a baby that night and I haven't stopped watching horror movies since. The crazy slasher stuff isn't really for me, but hey, to each their own. I guess I just like to be scared and get jump scares, more than being disgusted and laughing at the grotesque. Also, Korean and Spanish horror movies made within the past 10-15 years are among my absolute favorites.
