James Caan is the super creepy neighbor in The Good Neighbor (also known as The Waiting), and you really have to watch the trailer!

Besides James Caan (Misery), we also have familiar faces in the two other leading roles, as Logan Miller (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and Keir Gilchrist (It Follows) play the two high school students trying to trick their creepy neighbor.
Here’s the plot:

Two high school students try to trick the creepy neighbor Harold into thinking that his house is haunted. While Harold is out, the pair break into his house and set up a bunch of cameras and gadgets that allow them to scare the old man. Their plan takes a left turn when Harold is non-responsive to their tricks but as they keep watching, the duo start to think that Harold might be hiding something in his basement.

When you watch the trailer, you’ll probably be blown away by James Caan – I certainly was! He is perfect as the very calm and reserved good neighbor, who clearly isn’t what he appears to be.

The Good Neighbor poster - aka The WaitingWouldn’t it be awesome, if a horror movie could finally land him an award? He has been nominated for an Academy Award and four Golden Globes, but never won either. A long shot, but this genre certainly seems to bring out the be(a)st in people. Just look at John Goodman in 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Kasra Farahani has directed The Good Neighbor in his debut as a feature film director. He has two short films under his belt as well, but usually he works in the art department as art director or concept artist. He has worked on huge blockbusters with a strong sense of style like Alice in Wonderland and The Wolfman.

The script for The Good Neighbor (original title The Waiting) was written by Mark Bianculli and Jeff Richard. This movie marks the feature film debut for the both of them as well.

Also, you can’t really help but be reminded of another horror movie that premiered at SXSW. Fede Alvarez’ Don’t Breathe has a similar concept and was hyped heavily after screening at the film festival. The story also features young people, who intrude on a seemingly harmless older man.  Watch the trailer for Don’t Breathe right here.

The Good Neighbor (also known under the title The Waiting) opens theatrically and on VOD September 6, 2016.

I usually keep up-to-date with all the horror news, and make sure Heaven of Horror share the best and latest trailers for upcoming horror movies. I love all kinds of horror. My love affair started when I watched 'Poltergeist' alone around the age of 10. I slept like a baby that night and I haven't stopped watching horror movies since. The crazy slasher stuff isn't really for me, but hey, to each their own. I guess I just like to be scared and get jump scares, more than being disgusted and laughing at the grotesque. Also, Korean and Spanish horror movies made within the past 10-15 years are among my absolute favorites.
