Iranian horror movie Under the Shadow has gotten a lot of praise. And yes, a remake is coming, but for now you get the official trailer and poster right here.

Under the Shadows is directed by first-time filmmaker Babak Anvari and stars Narges Rashidi, Avin Manshadi, Bobby Naderi, Ray Haratian, and Arash Marandi.

The movie has already been compared to the critically acclaimed The Babadook, which makes sense when you read the plot.

Written by the director, the plot for Under the Shadow is as follows:

Tehran, 1988: As the Iran-Iraq War rumbles into its eighth year, a mother and daughter are slowly torn apart by the bombing campaigns on the city coupled with the country’s bloody revolution. As they struggle to stay together amidst these terrors, a mysterious evil stalks through their apartment.

The movie premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This was also where Variety broke the news that Netflix had secured the worldwide streaming rights. In fact, Netflix nabbed the rights before the movie had actually premiered at the festival.

This means Under the Shadow should be out globally on Netflix shortly after the theatrical release. If we’re lucky, this could mean it’ll debut in time for Halloween this year. However, if you should get the chance to watch it at a movie theater, then please go for it!

Under the Shadow is out in UK theaters on September 30, 2016, and the following week on October 7, 2016 in the US.

I usually keep up-to-date with all the horror news, and make sure Heaven of Horror share the best and latest trailers for upcoming horror movies. I love all kinds of horror. My love affair started when I watched 'Poltergeist' alone around the age of 10. I slept like a baby that night and I haven't stopped watching horror movies since. The crazy slasher stuff isn't really for me, but hey, to each their own. I guess I just like to be scared and get jump scares, more than being disgusted and laughing at the grotesque. Also, Korean and Spanish horror movies made within the past 10-15 years are among my absolute favorites.
